Arts Grants Organization – Nexus Fund

Administered by Atlanta Contemporary in partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the Nexus Fund is a regional regranting program that distributes direct financial support to independent artists working across the 11-county Metro Atlanta area. The program covers Clayton, Cherokee, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale counties, making it one of the broadest artist-funding mechanisms tied to Atlanta Contemporary’s institutional mission.

For the 2026 grant cycle, the Nexus Fund disburses ten awards of $6,000 each, totaling $60,000 in grants. Applications are accepted online from November 4, 2025 through December 31, 2025, with successful applicants notified by March 15, 2026. All funded projects must reach completion by September 15, 2026.

The fund prioritizes artist-driven projects that emphasize risk-taking and experimentation, broadening critical discourse within Metro Atlanta. Proposals that are multidisciplinary and collaborative in nature, and that center diverse audiences while provoking social engagement, align most closely with the program’s stated values. Eligible applicants submit project proposals accompanied by budgets, timelines, supporting images, and artist biographies through an online application portal. Ineligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, current students enrolled in degree programs, and artists submitting already-established or previously launched projects.

Atlanta Contemporary’s roots as a grassroots artists’ cooperative, founded in 1973, inform the Nexus Fund’s emphasis on supporting emerging and under-resourced practitioners rather than established institutions. The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, which partners with regional arts organizations nationwide through its regranting initiative, provides the underlying capital for the program.
