Three Atlanta restaurants operate under the Kevin Rathbun banner, each rooted in Rathbun’s culinary background training under celebrated chefs including Emeril Lagasse and Bradley Ogden. Kevin Rathbun Steak, the flagship venue on the Atlanta BeltLine, opened in 2007 and offers upscale steakhouse dining. KR Steakbar launched in 2013 in Buckhead’s Peachtree Hills neighborhood, delivering fine dining steakhouse cuisine in a smaller bar-forward format. Krog Bar Coal Fired Pizza, a casual coal-fired pizzeria in Inman Park, operates out of a warehouse-style space adjacent to where Rathbun’s original namesake restaurant opened in 2004.
Rathbun received a James Beard Award nomination for “Rising Star Chef” in 1994. His original Atlanta restaurant earned a spot on Esquire’s “Best New Restaurants in America” list and Travel + Leisure’s “Best New American Restaurant.” He competed on Food Network’s Iron Chef America against Bobby Flay and won a sibling rivalry episode of Chopped against his brother, chef Kent Rathbun. In addition to restaurant operations, Rathbun is active in Atlanta community philanthropy and serves on the boards of multiple charitable organizations.
