Hobby Organization / Train Collectors Club – Terminus Chapter of the Train Collectors Association

Established in September 1969, the Terminus Chapter is an Atlanta-based subsidiary of the Dixie Division of the Train Collectors Association, a national organization dedicated to preserving tinplate toy trains through research, education, and community engagement. The chapter takes its name from Atlanta’s original identity as “Terminus,” the final stop of the Western and Atlantic Railroad and the setting of the Great Locomotive Chase involving the steam locomotives General and Texas.

The Terminus Chapter serves approximately 275 TCA members throughout Georgia. Unlike many chapters that operate with separate dues, membership in the Terminus Chapter is automatic for any TCA member residing in Georgia, with no additional local fee required. Prospective members join the national Train Collectors Association by submitting an application and payment to TCA headquarters in Strasburg, Pennsylvania.

The chapter hosts three annual Toy and Model Train Shows open to both TCA members and the general public, providing an opportunity to buy, sell, and trade toy trains and related collectibles. Beyond the shows, activities include member open houses and organized field trips. Officer elections take place biennially at the September show, and the organization actively seeks volunteers to assist its officers and committee advisors.

Community outreach is a stated priority: the Terminus Chapter has supported Atlanta’s Ronald McDonald House since 2013 through charitable participation. The organization’s founding meetings began on September 13, 1969, at Richard MacNary’s home, with the chapter submitting its formal petition for membership approval to the TCA in January 1970.

The chapter maintains a Facebook presence for ongoing member communication and event announcements. Interested collectors can find membership information and chapter news through the chapter’s official website.
