Atlanta Back Clinic is an outpatient physical therapy practice delivering one-to-one treatment with licensed physical therapists for patients across the Atlanta area. The clinic’s clinical scope covers neck pain, back pain, shoulder, hip, knee, wrist, and foot and ankle conditions, as well as headaches and a range of musculoskeletal injuries.
Treatment at Atlanta Back Clinic follows a four-phase methodology. The first phase involves assessment to identify each patient’s movement limitations and pain sources. The second phase focuses on patient education around pain management principles. Phase three delivers individualized treatment plans that incorporate hands-on manual therapy techniques including cupping, dry needling, and soft tissue mobilization. The fourth phase transitions patients to long-term maintenance through custom home exercise routines and access to gym facilities.
The practice accepts Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Humana as in-network insurance providers. United Healthcare, Aetna, and Cigna can be billed out-of-network. Uninsured patients are seen at $175 for an initial evaluation and $135 for follow-up visits. Under Georgia law, patients may seek physical therapy through direct access without a physician referral for up to eight visits or 21 days.
Two licensed physical therapists lead the clinical team. Rich Nyberg, a founding therapist practicing since 1977, holds board certification in orthopedic physical therapy and a clinical doctorate from the University of St. Augustine, with specializations in spinal biomechanics and manual therapy. Ji Woo joined the practice in 2024 following doctoral training at Florida International University and prior experience at Cleveland Clinic Hospital.
