Peace of Mind Recycling, branded as POMATL, is a door-to-door recycling pickup service launched in Atlanta in 2023 by founder Grant Wallace. The company was built specifically to accept materials that Atlanta’s standard county curbside programs typically reject, with glass being the primary gap the service was designed to address. By collecting directly from customers’ front porches, POMATL removes the friction of transporting materials to drop-off sites.
Customers choose from three bin sizes at signup: a small bin with capacity for approximately 16 wine bottles, a medium bin holding around 32 bottles, and a large bin accommodating roughly 80 bottles. Monthly membership plans are structured under three tiers: Lil’ Treehugger, Eco Warrior Family, and Captain Planet. No sorting is required; customers place mixed recyclables into a single bin, including glass bottles, plastics, metals, electronics, and batteries. POMATL collects bins directly from front porches on scheduled pickup dates, eliminating the need for customers to separate or clean individual items before pickup.
The company documents where collected materials are sent for processing, a transparency measure distinguishing it from programs where downstream handling goes unconfirmed. POMATL emphasizes that glass and most metals are infinitely recyclable when handled through proper facilities, whereas plastic can typically only be recycled two to three times before it degrades beyond use.
As of December 2024, the service had diverted more than 14,620 pounds of glass from Atlanta-area landfills. In 2025, Wallace partnered with Mark Sayers, owner of Discount Junk Removal and a fellow Eagle Scout, to expand the range of recyclable materials accepted by the program.
Grant Wallace also founded Atlanta Trash Talk, a recycling-focused community group, and The Southern Shmooze, a neighborhood resource community. POMATL holds memberships with The Southern Shmooze and Quiet ATL, an electric landscaping collaborative. Media coverage has appeared in Atlanta Magazine, Atlanta News First, WABE (NPR affiliate), Cabbagetown Neighbor, and Porch Press. Contact is available through the website.
